Rihanna equals Madonna's record

Rihanna's "Unapologetic" sold nearly 100,000 copies last week to debut at No. 1 on yesterday's new U.K. album chart. But the real sales story of the week, and the year, came in the less-publicised compilation chart, where "Now! That's What I Call Music 83" sold 295,000 copies, the highest tally for any album in 2012. Singles-wise, English pop hitmaker Olly Murs upstaged Girls Aloud's reunion by beating them to No. 1 with "Troublemaker," featuring Flo Rida.

Rihanna thus equals the record for a female artist of three consecutive chart-toppers, jointly held by Madonna, Norah Jones and Eva Cassidy. The Barbadian superstar first hit the U.K. album summit with "Good Girl Gone Bad" in 2007, but only reached No. 9 with the 2009 follow-up "Rated R." Her quickfire three-in-a-row sequence began in 2010 with "Loud" and continued with last year's "Talk That Talk." On the new singles chart, she falls 9-10 with "Diamonds," but enters at No. 36 with "Right Now," featuring David Guetta, No. 63 with "Nobody's Business" featuring Chris Brown, and No. 75 with "Half Of Me."

One Direction's "Take Me Home" fell to No. 2 after last week's best-selling debut, with 72,000 new sales, in a new top ten featuring four more new entries. Their Syco labelmates, female pop act Little Mix, arrived at No. 3 with "DNA" on 53,000 sales, with Led Zeppelin's "Celebration Day" in at No. 4 (50,000 units) to extend the erstwhile rock giants' span of U.K. top ten albums to 43 years, since their self-titled debut reached No. 6 in 1969.

A new deluxe edition of Michael Bublé's "Christmas" album, which already has U.K. sales of 1.3 million from a worldwide total of 7m according to Reprise/Warner Music, took the festive set back into the chart at No. 5. Bublé is due to play no fewer than ten nights at London's 02 Arena next summer. Scottish vocalist Susan Boyle's "Standing Ovation - The Greatest Songs" opened at No. 7 to give Syco Music a third top ten title of the week.

The "Now! 83" set  debuted at No. 1 on the compilation chart only four weeks after the 82nd volume completed a 13-week run at the top. The new hits collection's huge 295,000 opening tally was well ahead of the 267,000 for its predecessor.

2009 "X Factor" contestant Murs, now the anchor for its companion show "Xtra Factor," is proving a durable chart act, now taking his total of No. 1 singles to four. "Troublemaker" follows 2010's "Please Don't Let Me Go" and last year's "Heart Skips A Beat" and "Dance With Me Tonight," and the singer's third album, "Right Place Right Time," is released in the U.K. today (Monday). The single sold 121,000 copies last week, easily outdoing Girls Aloud's much-vaunted return at No. 2 with "Something New," which is in aid of the BBC's Children In Need appeal and sold 70,000 units.

One Direction's "Little Things" fell 1-3 in a top ten that featured one other arrival, Alicia Keys' "Girl On Fire" at No. 5. London quartet Rudimental followed their "Feel The Love" No. 1 with a No. 14 debut for "Not Giving In" and Columbia/Sony's release of AC/DC's entire catalog on iTunes gave the Anglo-Australian rock veterans a considerable chart presence. "Back In Black" made its singles chart debut, 32 years after its first release, at No. 27, with "Highway To Hell" at No. 40, "You Shook Me All Night Long" No. 42, "Thunderstruck" No. 42 and "Whole Lotta Rosie" No. 68. The new "Live At River Plate" album charted at No. 14 and "Back In Black" reappeared at No. 61.

Rihanna to launch new fragrance' 'nude'

She’s a worldwide famous pop star and fashion icon but it seems her talents don’t stop there as Rihanna has announced when she will launch her third fragrance Nude by Rihanna.

The new perfume will be released in Macy’s on Black Friday (November 23), the huge shopping day in the US after Thanksgiving, reports WWD.

Rihanna said: “When creating my first scent, Reb’l Fleur, I wanted it to be a really strong scent – daring and bold. I have gotten more personal with Nude.”

Rihanna has previously released Reb’l Fleur and Rebelle, however, the pop singer might expand her beauty brand as she “alluded to the possibility of creating a cosmetics or hair-care line in the future.”

Prior to the fragrance’s launch date, Rihanna will release her new album 'Unapologetic' on November 19.

When speaking of her album’s lead single ‘Diamonds’, Rihanna admitted that it is her favourite single.

She said: “It used to be ‘Umbrella’ before ‘Diamonds’ came along. It’s a really powerful song even to listen to, it just gets you…you just get sucked in. Even if you’re in the club, it really f**ks with your head.”

We can’t wait until Rihanna’s new fragrance is out in the shops and we can have a sniff! What do you think it will smell like?

Rihanna, 'Unapologetic': Track-By-Track Review

1. Phresh Out The Runway - "How could you be so hood but you're so fuckin' pop? How could you be so fun and sound like you're selling rocks?" Rihanna quotes one of her doubting peers in this swaggering, gritty club banger produced by The-Dream and David Guetta. "Unapologetic" is all about shaking up expectations, so opening with a straight-up hip-hop track produced by the biggest name in EDM quickly sets the tone.

2. Diamonds
As written by dance-pop torch singer du jour Sia Furler, "Diamonds" finds Rihanna doing one of her throatiest, most impassioned vocals to date (and one that seems to be channeling Sia herself) on this inspirational pop ballad. And as a strategic shift from recent singles like "Talk That Talk" and "Cockiness," "Diamonds" further positions Rihanna in new stylistic categories, lest she settle on one format for too long.

3. Numb (Featuring Eminem)
- The last time Rihanna teamed with Eminem, it was on the massive, emotional "Love The Way You Lie." This time around, the duo only has the club on its mind on this slow-grinding, Middle Eastern-flavored party track, which opens with Rihanna shrugging, "Ecstasy in the air / I don't care / Can't tell me nothin.'"

4. Pour It Up - It's not just the dudes who can flex their money and love of strippers. Rihanna turns her often-racy Twitter feed into an irresistible, Mike WiLL-produced banger for the ladies, chanting "Pour it up / pour it up / watch it all fall out" over a hypnotic beat and handclaps.Take note, 2 Chainz, Juicy J and the like - Rihanna's coming after your territory.

5. Loveeeee Song (Feat. Future) - Future's Auto-Tune-soaked plea for "love and affection" gets a definitive response from Rihanna on this percolating duet.

6. Jump - Sure, "Gangnam Style" is the horse-dance craze of 2012, but Ginuwine's "Pony" has been having quite the cultural renaissance this year, thanks to its key role in the summer blockbuster "Magic Mike" and now this dubstep-ified update from Rihanna. "Jump" is an answer song of sorts to Ginuwine's 90s classic, adding new verses on top of the existing chorus, which now erupts in a wall-shaking Skrillex-worthy breakdown. "You think I give a damn / but you know who I am / I don't go around chasing no dude," Rihanna reassures her conquest.

7. Right Now (Feat. David Guetta)
- Perhaps the only song that adheres to the expected formula carved out by "Loud" and "Talk That Talk," "Right Now" is a straightforward, four-on-the-floor feel-good anthem for the clubs. Thematically identical and musically similar to Ne-Yo and Calvin Harris' "Let's Go," "Right Now" is exactly what you'd expect from the latest Rihanna-Guetta team-up, and nothing more.

8. What Now - An unexpectedly vulnerable ballad from Rihanna that finds her acknowledging "this lump in my throat" before letting loose on an epic chorus that hits harder than anything she's done in years. An emotional highlight on an album filled with moments of resonance in its second half.

9. Stay (Feat. Mikky Ekko) - As premiered on last week's "Saturday Night Live," "Stay" is Rihanna at her most intimate - a piano-backed duet with Brooklyn singer-performance artist Mikky Ekko with a 70s AM-radio melody that recalls Elton John or Billy Joel. If this is Rihanna indulging her adult-contemporary side, she couldn't have picked a stronger ballad to demonstrate it.

10. Nobody's Business (Feat. Chris Brown) - If "Nobody's Business" featured anyone but Chris Brown, it would still be celebrated as a wonderfully catchy throwback to early-90s club music. But because it's a duet in which the tumultuous lovers proclaim "you'll always be the one I want to come home to" and "you'll always be my baby" for the world to hear, it makes the beyond-complicated circumstances of their history impossible to ignore. Judge for yourself -- just try to resist the song's many Michael Jackson-worthy charms.

11. Love Without Tragedy / Mother Mary - Coming right after "Nobody's Business," it's hard to think that the first half of this seven-minute two-parter is channeling anyone but Chris Brown when Rihanna sings, "You took the best years of my life / I took the best years of your life / Felt love struck me with a knife / I pray that love don't strike twice." But just before things get any more somber, the song takes a confessional shift when the "Mother Mary" part kicks in, with Rihanna softly singing, "Mother Mary / I swear I'm gonna change / Mr. Jesus, I'd love to be a queen / But I'm from the left side of an island / Never thought this many people would even know my name." A deeply personal song sold by Rihanna's uplifting vocal.

12. Get It Over With - Taking the tempo down a notch, this dreamy track from James Fauntleroy and Brian Kennedy, who co-wrote half of 2009's "Rated R," is a chilled-out, reflective song that finds Rihanna "wondering why you keep thundering / won't you just fuckin' rain / and get it over with."

13. No Love Allowed - Much in the same way that 2010's "Man Down" saw Rihanna paying tribute to her Barbados heritage with a reggae torch song, "No Love Allowed" takes a similar approach over a bubbly, dubbed-out groove from producer No I.D. "Broken heart was the case / go'on and put him away /  He's the only one one one / I let get the best of me," she cries to the love police.

14. Lost In Paradise - Ending things on a somber-but-hopeful note, this bouncy StarGate track finds Rihanna clouded by past heartbreak when she sings, "It may be wrong but it feels right / All my fears are gone tonight / I'm so lost in paradise." What could otherwise be a forgettable midtempo ballad is saved by frequent tempo drops and interjections of "Bass slap!"

Chris Brown Denies Clash With Jay-Z Over Rihanna

Chris Brown has spoken about his recent meeting with Jay-Z backstage at the Barclay Center, revealing that he wasn't given a firm talking to by the rapper and it was actually "respectful."
The 'Turn Up The Music' singer bumped into the rapper for the first time in three years since he assaulted his then-girlfriend Rihanna, Jay-Z's Roc Nation protege, backstage at his concert in the new Brooklyn Center. Despite reports that Jay-Z had told Chris he would "end his career" if he hurt Rihanna again, the singer says there was no bad blood between the pair.
"It was cordial. It was real respectful. It was nothing like that. I went to the Center to see the show," Chris said in an interview with Power 106 radio. "People like to take it and run with it, because they have nothing else."
Speculation that Chris and Rihanna have reconciled their relationship has been fuelled over the last couple of months with multiple sightings of the pair hanging out at various nightclubs with eyewitnesses claiming they were "kissing."
Chris also features on a track on Rihanna's new album Unapologetic, titled 'Nobodies Business,' fuelling rumours that they are dating in secret.
However, Rihanna recently shot down the rumours, claiming that she is very much single and not dating Chris, during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres. She did, however, reveal that she has been getting a lot more action recently, prompting Ellen to, ahem, talk to RiRi's private parts.
Ellen played a clip from Rihanna's last visit to the show during which the singer referred to her private parts as "she" and admitted that her sex life was non-existent.
"It's not good for me and it's not good for her!" RiRi joked. This time round, things seem to have picked up for the Bajan songstress in the love department, and she told Ellen: "She's having a little more fun now. Hooray for her right?"

Want A Perfect Date With Rihanna? Don't Worry, It'll Be 'Cheap'!

You would think that you would have to think up something spectacular to take a super-star like Rihanna out on a date but according to the 'Nobodys Buisness' singer shes quite happy to stay in.
While on the Ellen DeGeneres Show in the US on Wednesday, the pop star revealed: “My favourite thing to do would just be to stay on the couch and watch TV or in the bed and watch TV.”
Rihanna told Ellen her favourite show at the moment is TLC’s reality TV show, Breaking Amish, in which four Amish adults move to New York to experience life in the big city and decide whether to stay there or go back to their Amish life style.
The Barbadian beauty said: “I love Breaking Amish right now, “It’s really good. You fall in love with the characters.”
Ellen then joked that Rihanna was “a cheap date.” The superstar clarified, “That’s the thing. If I don’t know you that well, we can’t really have our perfect date.”
While on the show, Rihanna told Ellen that she was not seeing anyone, denying reports that she has got back with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.

Rihanna: I want to have children

Rihanna has revealed that she ‘absolutely’ wants to have children, but has insisted that that there is no potential father at the moment, despite rumours that she is getting back together with ex, Chris Brown.
During her chat with Ellen DeGeneres on The Ellen Show, the singer was asked whether she has thought about having kids in the future.
“Yes, eventually. I mean, absolutely,” Rihanna replied.
Ellen then asked Rihanna whether she would raise a baby alone or wait until she’s in a relationship, to which the ’Diamonds’ singer replied: “I mean, I would prefer to have a full family.”
“I’m pretty sure I could handle it if I had to on my own, but that’s not what I’m striving for,” she added.
The 24-year-old has hit the headlines recently following rumours that she is getting back together with ex Chris Brown, despite being left battered and bruised after he assaulted her during an argument in 2009.
But Rihanna told Ellen during her interview that there is no potential daddy for her future children in the picture at the moment, but that her perfect date would be “just to stay on the couch and watch TV or in bed and watch TV.”

Rihanna And Katy Perry ‘Barely Talking Since Chris Brown Reunion’

Rihanna and her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown may be on the verge of getting back together but there’s one person who is allegedly far from happy, and that is RiRi’s celebrity BFF Katy Perry.

The pair, who are known to be good gal pals are “barely talking” since Rihanna has publicly become close to her ex, who was convicted of beating her up in 2009.

A source has told the New York Daily News that “there has been tension” between them, and that Perry didn’t go to the ‘Rude Boy’ singer’s Halloween party.

Instead, Katy has been hanging out with her Hollywood pals Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, despite having sat with Rihanna when she kissed Chris Brown on the lips in front of a stunned audience at the MTV Video Music Awards earlier this year.

The insider added that Katy is worried that “Rihanna is making a huge mistake and doesn’t want to be a part of it.”

But it hasn’t all be fun and games for Katy and the ‘Twilight’ actors as the ‘California Gurls’ singer has allegedly “warned” Kristen over hurting Rob again, after the 22-year-old was caught cheating this summer with her ‘Snow White And The Huntsman’ director.

According to a Now source, he said: “Katy didn't think Rob would ever get over the humiliation. She told K-Stew that she'll be an outcast if it happens again.”

Rihanna to marry Chris Brown

Rihanna has apparently been talking about making her relationship official with Chris Brown and marrying him.

According to reports, the 'Diamionds' songstress has told her friends that she wants to elope with the 23-year-old singer now he is a single man.
A source close to the singer told Star magazine: "No one close to them would be a bit shocked if they suddenly eloped.  Rihanna has told her close friends point blank - I would marry Chris."
The informed insider also revealed that the Roc Nation songstress would have stood by the 'Celebration' singer after he assaulted in 2009 if the scrutiny from the media hadn't reached fever pitch.
''She even says she would have never left him if the media scrutiny didn't get so bad. They're passionate, and when they're drunk, they've both made many comments about getting married.''
It was rumoured this week that Chirs paid off his ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran in a bid to make things right and because he wants to set her up financially.

Rihanna Dines Alone In Los Angeles Days After Oprah Interview

Rihanna cut a lonely figure last night when she was spotted dining out in Los Angeles without any of her usual friends or entourage accompanying her.
Despite being on her lonesome, the 24-year-old singer seemed to be in good spirits as she exited the Il Ristorante di Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica last night looking rock chic in a "Sex Kittens" t-shirt teamed with black boy shorts and Tom Ford gold chain wedges, favoured by the likes of Beyonce.
In addition to having a meeting earlier in the day, the 'We Found Love' was later seen making her way to a recording studio where she is likely laying down tracks for her forthcoming album.
RiRi has been dominating headlines this week in light of her interview with Oprah Winfrey in which she confessed she is still in love with her abusive ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, fuelling rumours they are reconciling.
Aside from the dramas in her personal life, RiRi is gearing up for the MTV Video Music Awards next week, where she is up for an impressive five nominations, including Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Video of the Year.
