Poem: HARMATTAN

THE MORNING
Once upon a Harmattan time
I stood there hoping to see my diamonds
I couldn't because the Harmattan had hidden them
I walked and ran hoping to find a clear sight
The more I ran, the more my past became blur
Then I reached a place where I saw Oliver

THE AFTERNOON
Oliver, have you found my diamonds?
Ask me that question when Harmattan is gone
Oliver, without the diamonds, I am restless
Ramses, how can I help you when she is still around?
I ran again because I knew Oliver was no help
I am Ramses and capable of finding the diamonds all by myself

THE EVENING
Searching through every nock and cranny
I rather finally found two painful things
One, it is better to let certain things go
than to chase them, you might be chasing a ghost.
Two, you don't have to rush to find something
If you have to wait for a decade before finding it, do it.

THE NIGHT
I finally have to admit that Oliver was right
I looked around again in a long face
Then I ran back to my old sinvelling Oliver
Oliver!

Poem: When three women meet

TWO EXTREME CHARACTERS
Oliver, can I ask you a question?
If I can, I will answer it
What can possibly happen when three women meet?
The world would possibly come to an end
Oliver, that's preposterous
Is that another way of saying 'that's the truth?'

TWO EXTREME POSITIONS
Think about it, men are the cause of war
Helena was the cause of the Trojan war
Three Yaa Asantewaa's can save the world
Three Delila'sare enough to end the world
Oliver, please be a little bit positive
I am only being factual, to say the least

TWO EXTREME PREMISS
Men in leisure do nothing but the devil's job
Women in leisure do nothing but spread lies
Think about it, mean are very uncaring
A woman can leave your heart broken on the floor
But men also do same, are you a stranger
It is the specialty of women, I am no stranger

TWO EXTREME CONCLUSIONS
Men in sleep are no better than men in action
Women cause trouble both in sleep and in action
Oliver! A very cold and sniveling man you are
I am only an objective man, I say it as it is
I find it false, when three women meet peace arises
The power of three women equals a million atomic bombs
Oliver!

POEM: HARD TIMES

ONCE UPON A TIME
Next comes the landlord when the kenkey seller is gone.
His screams are enough to make you quit it all.
You stand there and all you can do is to look up.
That dressmaker you haven’t paid over a year would
add to your problems by spewing oceans of  insults on you.
living in a hard time has and would never be glamorous

ONE DAY
‘Is there a way out of this disaster?’ you would quiz
The sun rises but no matter what sets.
It may look like there would never be an end.
Believe me, suffering has a slender body.
Yet there is a man on Earth called Hope,
When you are down, you should look up to him,
He would bring his furniture and keep you comfort

THE END
After much tribulation, the sun would set,
And success would ride his horses to your doorstep.
He would put you on a pedestal bigger than Gates.
Showering you with emeralds and platinum,
wash you with a soap made of an everlasting Arabian perfume
Then you shall remember those hard times no more.

HAPPILY EVER AFTER
The future holds enough glories for you.
Don't give up before life gives up on you.

Poem: A boy walking on fire

The difference:
He’s just eight and is on cloud nine
We have got our feet on the ground
And he has got his heads in the clouds
Everybody tells him he is on the high

The reminiscence:
Watching him  last night,
I realized he was that lonely boy
No one gave him any attention
Now he is on the cloud feeling like the sun
His behaviour can scorch your skin

A BOY WALKING ON FIRE:
Living in his created fantasies
We can rationalize but can never
Completely wash ourselves off the guilt
Everybody watches him as he goes
I begin to see no exit around for him

TAKING THE BLAME
I will always remember till the end of time
The signs I ignored thinking it was normal
I will always remember the excuses I gave
I was chasing love, he was chasing hollowness
I will always remember when I walked
Out of his sight when he needed help
I would not fail to remember
That I was a part of the unneeded change.

Poem: Living to die

THE TRANCE:
Life is about going to the finishing line
When we are there, our soul is broken
We then hear voices as sour as lime
We no longer give people token

THE PROTEST
Never shout at me, make me bright
What’s point; I heard you are booked
This is the last time and moment
You will hurt me because of where I stood
Am dying slowly, my skin is turning into tint
You and I will one day die and never be evoked
Not yet at the finishing lane, waiting for the day
Come and walk with me because I had a fall

THE END
This is the last time I will be vainly happy
When luck isn’t enough; am living to die for gaol
