The Forum for Governance and Justice (FGJ) claim that the ruling by the
Supreme Court on the conflict of interest case brought against NPP
Chairman Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey confirms the judiciary is open to manipulation for all angles
The Supreme Court voted by a majority decision and dismissed the case in which two deputy Ministers of State challenged the right of Mr.
Obetsebi-Lamptey to own a state bungalow he lived in as Minister of Tourism and Chief of Staff.
The group, however, says the ruling has grievous effects on the ultimate protection of state property and good governance.
The convener of the group, Dr.
Clement Apaak, says the forum will study the docket and possibly seek redress.
“We think that this ruling certainly seeps into the perception that our
judiciary system could be influenced by people of grand reputation,” he
told Citi News.
The plaintiffs - Okudzeto Ablakwa and Omane-Boamah - have also indicated that they will push for a review of the case.
