I never quit Black Stars: Asamoah Gyan

Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan says he never said or wrote to the Ghana Football Association that he has quit the Black Stars.

According to him, Psychological reasons made him take a break from the national team and not anger or criticisms.

He announced his withdrawal from the national team in February after missing a penalty during the semi-final defeat to African Champions Zambia at the 2012 Nations Cup in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

“I’m still a player of the Black Stars. I wrote a letter to the GFA that I needed an indefinite break but people misquoted me and said I quit which is not right,” He told Joy Sports.

“The coach (Kwasi Appiah) came to the UAE, he spoke to me and made his point and I also made mine clear to him and it was really acceptable”.

“The GFA have done their job and everything is in my court now, I have to psyche myself and then come back strongly”.

The Al Ain striker had a successful loan spell at United Arab Emirates where he won the league and goal king with 22 goals
