From Dogg To Lion To 'American Idol' Judge? Snoop Throws Hat In Ring

Snoop Lion says, 'I'll clean my act up, but I'm still Rastafari.'

The man formerly known as Snoop Dogg hasn't just reincarnated himself as a reggae artist called Snoop Lion: It seems the legendary rapper would like to try on another new hat — a judge on the next season of "American Idol."
The performer announced his intentions to sit beside newbie "Idol" judge Mariah Carey in New York, where he was on hand to introduce the world to himself as Snoop Lion. The Huffington Post reports that the rapper/reggae artist shared, "I'll do 'American Idol.' "
After hearing that Carey will make upwards of $18 million to join the show, Snoop reportedly told his manager, "Get on it!" He later added, "I'll clean my act up, but I'm still Rastafari."
The show's producers refused to comment on Snoop's offer, but at last check Nick Jonas and Pharrell Williams stood as the frontrunners to replace Steven Tyler after his exit. Carey replaces the seat once held by fellow diva Jennifer Lopez. As of now, the fate of the only standing "Idol" judge, Randy Jackson, is also up in the air. He might return as a judge or step into a mentor position.
While Snoop is jumping at the chance to join the hit Fox show, one guy, namely Bret Michaels, decided to take it upon himself late Thursday to release a statement saying he wanted nothing to do with judging the show.
In a lengthy statement released by the newly single singer, he shared, "As far as the rumors surrounding 'American Idol' goes, Bret is honored that he is always considered at the top of their lists and fan polls but feels that position has long been filled. The only real consideration on the reality TV front at this moment is returning to do an 'All Star Celebrity Apprentice.' "
