Baldini: 'Roma rejected €100m'

Roma director Franco Baldini has revealed they “turned down offers worth €100m” for Daniele De Rossi and other players.
The Giallorossi had confirmed a proposal from Manchester City over the summer for their star midfielder, but it seems there were several other figures taken off the market.
“We turned down several offers for De Rossi and other players worth a total €100m,” director general Baldini told Sky Sport Italia today.
“We chose Zdenek Zeman because we wanted a man who would not only win in a cynical manner, as history shows.
“We wanted to change the story of football and he seemed to be the ideal person for the job. We want a Coach who wins and doesn’t just do the bare minimum.”
Zeman has already hit headlines for calling FIGC President Giancarlo Abete “the enemy of football” and sniping at former Juventus star Gianluca Vialli.
“His opinions are understandable and there is no difference in viewpoints between the club and the Coach.
“You journalists stirred up the controversy, as every opinion given in a general sense becomes targeted. We knew that we were hiring this type of character.”
