In the annals of Ghana's political history, women have always been relegated to the background, however, the 2012 election is an exception. Prior to all other elections in Ghana, women had always sat down and watch the men take the position of the Presidency and Vice-Presidency.
This coming elections has really re-defined what Ghanaian women stand for in our society. Like Yaa Asantewaa, women are now ready to fight and save their nation. It all started when Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings challenged the sitting President of Ghana, the Late President Mills, it then went to a farmer called Madam Akua Donkor who despite being an illiterate has promised to take Ghana to the promised land when voted into power, then PPP followed suite when Papa Kwesi Nduom chose Eva Lokko as his running mate. The latest to join the list of Ghanaian women who want to give in their all to help Ghana is Nana Akosua Frimpong II, the Queenmother of Dormaa, who has just been chosen by Abu Sakara to be his running mate for the 2012 elections. The PNC has promised to also choose a female running mate.
The question I ask now is this ''What have politicians now seen in women that they would like to make them their running mate?
