Rawlings Mounts NPP Platform This Week

Love-stricken ex-president Jerry John Rawlings, whose wife has become an albatross around his neck will in his bid to please her invariably inflict more pains on himself by walking into yet another trap set up by his previous enemies, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who once called him “Ashawoba”- son of a prostitute.

Ex- President Rawlings is expected this Wednesday, October 24, 2012, to mount a platform created by the NPP to chastise the government by speaking on the topic: “Corruption, A Threat to Democracy and NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT” with Nana Akufo-Addo and several NPP bigwigs, including parliamentarians attending.

Mr. Andrew Awuni, one-time Presidential Press Secretary of John Agyekum Kufuor owns and runs the Centre for Freedom and Accuracy, organizers of the Freedom Lectures 2012. The advertisement for the event has been running in the Pro-NPP newspaper, Daily Guide with Mr. Rawlings’ photograph.

Mr. Awuni, who once con tested the Bongo constituency Seat in the Upper East Region, on the ticket of the NPP but lost, is famously remembered for falsely accusing Mr. Rawlings of beating up a District Chief Executive, Clement Apikiya, who had driven through a group of NDC supporters at a rally in November 2004.

The topic on corruption is seen as bait for Mr. Rawlings to further discredit the NDC government at this crucial moment of a few days to the 2012 polls, obviously to the advantage of the NPP.

Speakers who have mounted the Centre for Freedom and Accuracy platforms, so far this year, include the NPP patron in the Ashanti Region Akenteng Appiah Menka of Apino Soap fame, Franklin Cudjoe of IMANI Ghana and the catholic Archbishop of Kumasi Emeritus Reverend Peter Akwasi Sarpong.
