PICTURE SPECIAL: The Man United v Liverpool rivalry

The Man United v Liverpool rivalry explained... the trophies, heroes, villains, scraps and celebrations. Oh, and those dodgy suits

It's not strictly a derby, but Manchester United v Liverpool remains English football's fiercest rivalry.
Separated by 29.5miles and linked by the East Lancs Road (AKA the A580), Premier League leaders United and Liverpool (eighth) clash once more on Sunday - the 160th league meeting of these two old foes.
The titans square up at Old Trafford to renew hostilities that stretch back well over a century. Indeed, the first ever match at Old Trafford was against Liverpool in 1910 - with the visitors returning to Merseyside 4-3 winners.
There have been countless squabbles - think Jonjo Shelvey and Sir Alex Ferguson recently - and square-ups between the players - Luis Suarez and Patrice Evra, David Beckham and Jamie Redknapp - and managers, too, down the years.
And, of course, there is a bucketload of unforgettable matches featuring some of the greatest names to ever grace the game... Oh, and let's not forget those FA Cup final suits.
Here, Sportsmail showcases a series of brilliant images from Manchester United v Liverpool matches.
Let's hope Sunday's showdown is yet another classic...

Suarez was found guilty of using inappropriate language by the FA and banned for eight matches, but the row cause Suarez to refuse to shake Evra's hand (above right) at Old Trafford last February. That snub caused Evra to celebrate victory in wild fashion (below left). The pair finally made peace with a handshake at Anfield in September (below right)
