The Volta River Authority (VRA) has says that the nationwide power outage experienced on Wednesday night is as a result of system trip.
Last night’s blackout, which lasted for about two hours was the fourth Ghanaians have experienced within three months.
The Public Relations Officer of the VRA, Gertrude Koomson, told Citi
News the bodies responsible for the nation’s power generation and supply
are working frantically to end the nationwide blackouts.
“It went out around peak time because the system can no longer contain
the load,” she said. “It was a system trip and the overloading of the
system was the cause of the power outage.”
“I have had a discussion with our technical people and it looks like at
a point we have to depend on GRIDCo to take off some of the load when
they realise it is becoming too much,” she added.
Koomson suggested: “What we have to do is to monitor the load and that
is not done at the VRA end, it has to be done from GRIDCo.”
