...Konadu flagbearer, Martin Amidu Running-mate
The Al-Hajj can now reveal authoritatively that former President
Rawlings and his wife together with the remaining coterie of their
FONKAR loyalists across the country will very soon outdoor a new
political party to be christened the National Democratic Party (NDP)
Credible information reaching The Al-Hajj indicate that frenetic
preparation is already underway to get the official endorsement of the
Electoral Commission (EC) and very soon the NDP will be a full-fledge
political party, confirming earlier media reports that the Founder of
the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jerry John Rawlings and wife,
Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings are about to form a new political party.
The source told this paper that the Rawlingses intend wrestling the
umbrella symbol from the NDC to be used for the new party adding that
very soon the former first lady will commence legal actions against the
NDC over the symbol.
A mole within the Rawlingses household whispered to The Al-Hajj that
the beleaguered former first couple is in actual fact far advanced in
the formation of the new party.
The undercover source told this paper last Tuesday that the new party
which began as a political movement of conviction and principles under
the direction of Mr. Kofi Adams, the Spokesperson for the Rawlings
family and suspended Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, is currently
working with the Electoral Commission (EC) to obtain clearance to
operate.
Emissaries of the Rawlingses to the EC’s offices in Accra led by
naturopathic physician Dr. Ofei Agyeman were referred to the Electoral
Commission’s regional office when they went there to collect forms for
the registration of the new party.
Allocation of executive positions within the yet to be outdoored NDP we
are told, has been on-going in earnest and some names have popped –up.
The NDC founder and former president’s wife, Nana Konadu Agyeman
Rawlings this paper gathered would be the obvious acclaimed Presidential
Candidate, ala; Papa Kwesi Nduom of the Progressive People’s Party
(PPP) fame.
Nana Konadu this paper can reveal would be partnered by former Attorney
General and Minister of Justice, Martin Alamisi Amidu of the
‘Gargantuan’ fame.
Other officers of the yet to be outdoored party our source reveals
include, NDC’s 2008 parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso Central
constituency, Dr Ofei Agyeman who in December 2010 slammed the
performance of President Mills, describing him as an ineffective person
and incapable of leading the party to retain power in 2012.
Troubled former deputy general secretary of the NDC and spokesperson of
the Rawlingses, Mr. Kofi Adam is to become the substantive NDP General
Secretary with former Spio Garbra’s spokeman, Alhaji Nasiru Mohamed
picking up the National Organizer position of the party.
By press time yesterday, the positions allotted to loud-mouth NDC
Member of Parliament for the Lower Manya constituency, Michael Teye
Nyaunu; disgraced one-time General-Secretary of the NDC, Dr. Nii Armah
Josiah Aryer; Mr. Berrick Namburi, former Campaign Coordinator of the
Former First Lady and incorrigible Ernest Owusu-Bempah are not yet
known.
The Rawlingses, according to our source have a plan ‘B’ to fall on
should the formation of the new party to contest the scheduled December
elections fails to come into fruition.
“Should the government, using the Electoral Commission, tries to
frustrate the coming into being of this new party, Madam would
definitely fall on their plan ‘B’, which is, she going as an independent
Presidential Candidate in the December 2012 polls”, the mole revealed.
It would be recalled that the Spokesperson for the Rawlings family Kofi
Adams last week told the media that groundwork for the roll-out of a
political movement is in place and he is of the conviction that the
movement will re-entrench principles and convictions amongst its
members. Mr. Kofi Adams, though initially denied the formation of a new
party by his boss, subsequently admitted that; forming the new political
party was proposed by a number of groups who have visited the office of
former President Rawlings on several occasions to express their
allegiance to him.
He told the Accra-based Citi fm that “these groups have formed
political movements dotted across the country and growing by the day”.
According to Kofi Adams, his boss’ reservations about the Mills-led administration are the underlying principles of the political movement and that is why Former President Jerry Rawlings has been immensely vocal in critiquing the current government.
