In its latest monitoring report on political activities in the country between May and June this year, the GII cited instances of abuse of incumbency by the ruling government.
Joy News’ Hannah Odame who was present at the press conference organised to make public the results of the monitoring activities, said the NDC admiinistration was cited for using state vehicles in their political campaigns.
The government officials were also faulted for claiming credit for projects undertaken with the District Assemblies Common Fund.
They were also accused of using public space and facilities other parties would ordinarily not have access to in furtherance to their partisan political objectives.
According to Odame, the Brong Ahafo, Volta, Western, Eastern and Central Regions were found to be notorious for abusing their incumbency.
The government officials were also cited for buying votes and using their positions to compel people to support the party.
The GII said it does not have the power and the constitutional mandate to take action against officials abusing incumbency, except to expose such officials for the public to make their own judgement.
