This follows President John Mahama’s decision to keep the current team of ministers, debunking rumours that he will be reshuffling them any time soon.
According to the president, he would rather be focusing on growing the country’s economy and improving the living standards of Ghanaians than to decide on a reshuffle.
But Vice President of IMANI Ghana, Kofi Bentil, told XYZ News although a reshuffle is not obligatory, it would be a step for President Mahama to fulfill the effective governance he promised the people.
“Right now we have had a situation where the leadership has changed and we think that is one of the ways the president can establish his authority over the team that he has inherited.”
Mr. Bentil however indicated that President Mahama’s decision not to reshuffle his team may not necessarily affect his performance and that it is possible to be successful without a reshuffle.
“Reshuffle is not something that must happen by all means. I will advise him to do something. If not a total reshuffle, he should just move a few people around. What many people will say is that a reshuffle is a good way to re-energise the team.”
Mr. Bentil, therefore says the prudence of the decision by President Mahama can only be evaluated at the end of his tenure.
