Massimo Moratti, president of Inter, likened manager Andrea Stramaccioni to former trainer and current Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho after Inter’s win Sunday night in the Milan Derby.
Yuto Nagatomo received a red card early in the second-half, putting Inter down to 10 men, but they managed to keep AC Milan off the score sheet to take the first of two meetings between the Milan giants. Walter Samuel scored in the fourth minute for Inter on a header, putting the pressure on the Rossoneri.
“I was very confident in the manager ahead of this game,” he told Sky Sport. “I remained confident when we went down to 10 men.”
“When I was thinking about entrusting my squad with Stramaccioni, I knew he’d be a good manager because he is gifted with an intelligence that reminds me of Mourinho. Other than that, they are both very hard workers.”
In view of Inter’s apparent turn around, Moratti spoke about Inter’s goals for this season.
“We don’t need to go crazy in the transfer market, because, as I hope, we have given the manager a good squad, and have not made him feel pressured to win. Let’s have a good season, and then we will see.”
