Veeps officially moves to Flagstaff House


Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur on Monday moved his permanent office from the State House to the Flagstaff House.

Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur was conducted round by Senior Presidential Staffer and Chairman of the committee set up by President Mahama to oversee the phase movement of the Presidency from the Castle to the Flagstaff House.

Vice president Amissah-Arthur expressed satisfaction with his new office.

Upon assuming office in 2009, then President Mills refused to move into the magnificent edifice and preferred to work from the Osu Castle, while a portion of the facility given to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to operate as its offices after a fire razed down its main offices in Accra.

There were calls from some leading members from the ruling NDC for the presidency to relocate to the Flagstaff House, shortly after late President Mills' remains were laid to rest at the Asmodwee Park, near the Osu Castle, which is currently the seat of government.

Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur expressed satisfaction at the report submitted by the committee after it undertook a study at the facility.

Veep was hopeful he will be joined by President Mahama in February, 2013.
