150,000 extra votes were given to Mahama – NPP claims

The New Patriotic Party says its findings have so far revealed that over 150,000 votes were added to the votes of President John Mahama in this year’s elections.

The party is confident the manipulated figures found so far could affect the outcome of this year’s Presidential elections – and possibly force a presidential runoff.

Addressing a rally of NPP keep fit clubs in Kumasi today ahead of its demonstration on Tuesday, Minority Leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu said the party would be finalizing its research into the anomalies in the presidential results by close of work Sunday.

He disclosed that an independent auditing of the evidence gathered so far would be initiated afterwards.

Mr. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu also announced that the NPP had contracted two IT experts from Kumasi to probe the parliamentary results as well.

According to the NPP, the stage is set for its massive demonstration on Tuesday during which a petition will be presented to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Today’s exercise saw several members of NPP keep fit clubs converging at the Main Post Office, Adum, Santasi and the Suame roundabouts.

The Electoral Commission last week declared John Mahama, winner of the 2012 presidential elections, but flag bearer of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo has rejected the results.

The party says it is gathering evidence of electoral fraud to contest the elections results at the Supreme Court.
