Don't appoint anyone involved in woyome saga - Woyome cautions Prez.

Businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome has cautioned President John Mahama against appointing into office, any persons remotely or directly connected to the court case involving the payment of GHC 51 million as judgment debt to him.

According to him, these persons are part of a grand scheme to indict him.

Speaking to Citi News, the beleaguered businessman stated that the unnamed persons will be indicted by the end of proceedings in court.

"I assured you and the good people of Ghana that many who know me, recognize I’m not shy of mentioning names if even he is a Commander-in-Chief in my Lord’s heaven, if he is involved, it will be announced. A word to the wise is enough."

"If it is done, it is within their right and that of the Ghanaian people. This appointment business is the reason why I am going through all this because after voting, the entire struggle is just 10%. The 90% is those who will sit down and put people in vantage positions to administer things on behalf of the president. This is where Ghanaians should be very involved in," he noted.

Mr Woyome further alleged that his arrest last year was orchestrated by the government.

"I have not plotted a coup d’état. Neither am I a fugitive to be chased and arrested. I represented the Austrian President at Ghana @ 50. If you think that I have done something very wrong, you invite me to the CID like it’s done to everyone. Why that game? With cameras all around already prepared with vehicles and everything and on the basis of not even a full report but an interim one!"

He was however quick to indicate his confidence in the court system; stressing he had not stolen any government money.

"We want to build good systems in Ghana and institutions so they become truly independent but when those institutions allow themselves to be manipulated and used then I don’t know. In the 2010 Auditor General report, it was stated that Alfred Woyome was paid GHc 58 million. That was what the Auditor general presented as requested by law to Parliament. As it stands now, it is the only thing before Parliament and it is utterly false. [It] was manipulated, orchestrated, and influenced by politicians to start this case. What was done by court order was a little over GHc 17 million and that was what was paid. The Attorney General’s office issued a statement to editors that they had made a mistake and that the actual money was GHc17 million. If institutions will allow themselves to be used, then it is up to them."
