Officials in charge of the Independence Square, venue for the swearing
in ceremony of the President-elect, say all is set for the event.
They told XYZ News the venue has been given a facelift to host the ceremony. Preparation works at Square are expected to end on Saturday.
Ben Nunoo Nartey, a Presidential Staffer who is one of the supervisors
of the ongoing face-lifting job at the Independence Square ahead of the
President’s inauguration on Monday said, the place will be ready by the
due date.
President Mahama won the December 7 and 8 polls with 50.70 per cent as
against his closest rival, Nana Akufo-Addo’s 47.74 per cent.
Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP are however challenging the results in
court. They are accusing the Electoral Commission and the National
Democratic Congress of scheming to rig the election.
They are asking the Supreme Court to declare the EC’s results null and
void and to declare their candidate as the legitimate winner of the
presidential elections.
