Chris Brown has a number of pit bull puppies for sale at $1,000 each. SPCALA has said he is breeding and selling them, and he has a website called CB Breeds. However, people close to him were reported as saying he is not breeding them, but merely selling the puppies his adult pit bulls had two months ago.
It does seem a little strange to go to the length of creating a website with the domain name CB Breeds and publishing the puppy details there if it is only to sell about seven puppies, with a potential revenue of just $7,000.
Each of his puppies apparently comes with registration, current vaccinations and a performance pedigree. SPCLA posted a blog entry that questioned the motive for selling these puppies, “Why does a rock star and known domestic violence abuser choose to breed dogs, and why, specifically pit bulls? What does Brown know about the genetics of responsible breeding? Will the dogs be fixed? How will they determine what is a good home? Who would pay that price? Do pit bulls enhance his ‘bad boy’ image?”
Pit Bulls are one of the more euthanized breeds. An Arizona animal shelter said about 68 percent of their pit bulls were put down last year.
The Huffington Post published a list of nine dogs that are in need of adopting, and reported 17,000 healthy or treatable dogs were euthanized in LA last year, in order to underscore the point there are many pets in shelters that need adopting, and it would be better to donate to animal centers than pay $1,000 for one puppy.
