Cassano fit for Euro 2012 final

Antonio Cassano has shaken off a minor knee injury and will be available to start for Italy in the Euro 2012 final against Spain, according to the Azzurri team doctor.

assano, 29, picked up a knock in the semi-final win against Germany, during which he set up Mario Balotelli for Italy's opening goal of the game.

The AC Milan forward, who has enjoyed a fine tournament, was deemed a doubt for the final after the 2-1 victory in Warsaw, but team doctor Enrico Castellacci has now given him a clean bill of health.

“There was a slight twist in the knee for Cassano. However, from a clinical viewpoint there is no need to worry, there is no ligament damage," Castellacci said. “In the final against Spain we will see him.”

Castellacci also confirmed that Ignazio Abate and Balotelli have recovered from minor knocks and will both be fit to face Spain in Sunday's final in Kiev.

Cassano has started every match for Italy at Euro 2012, scoring one goal - against Ireland - and impressing with his movement and work-rate. His efforts for the Azzurri made all the more impressive given he spent almost six months of last season on the sidelines with a heart problem.-ESPN
