LONG WAVE GOODBYE? ... Robin van Persie leaves Poland with his Arsenal future still unclear
ARSENE WENGER has told Juventus there is no way Robin van Persie would leave Arsenal for an “inferior” league.
Juventus are desperate to lure the Dutch forward, 28, to Serie A and know he has just one year left on his current deal.
But Gunners boss Wenger was in defiant mood when quizzed by Italian journalists.
He said: “I am certain that Robin will remain with us.
“If you want to know why, it is because there is no reason in this world why a great player like Van Persie should go and play for you, in Italy and in your competition.
“Your football is at an inferior level to the Premier League.”
Arsenal have not won a trophy since 2005 and Van Persie has seen Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri leave the Emirates and go on to win silverware.
But Wenger has already beefed up his frontline for next season with the £10million signing of Germany striker Lukas Podolski.
A £10m move for France striker Olivier Giroud will be completed after Euro 2012.
Giroud was a star for Montpellier last season, helping them win the French title.
He was less effective for his country on Tuesday night however, heading over a simple chance to equalise against Sweden, who went on to beat Laurent Blanc’s France 2-0.
