Michael Laudrup has been appointed the new Swansea City manager on a two-year contract.
The former Real Madrid, Barcelona and Denmark midfielder takes over from Brendan Rodgers who joined Liverpool last month.
Laudrup, who will be unveiled to the Swansea City fans at the end of next week, has enjoyed managerial experience with the likes of Brondby, Getafe, Spartak Moscow and Real Mallorca. He will be Swansea's third manager in the past four years following on from Roberto Martinez, Paolo Sousa and the hugely popular Rodgers.
Swansea, who finished 11th in their debut Premier League season, had been linked with a number of potential candidates in recent weeks, most notably Blackpool manager Ian Holloway, former France captain Marcel Desailly, Wigan assistant manager Graeme Jones and Brighton and Hove Albion manager Gus Poyet.
However, Laudrup, who won five Spanish league titles with Barcelona and Real Madrid as a player between 1991 and 1995, is understood to have been the number one target for chairman Huw Jenkins.
He has been out of work since resigning as Mallorca manager, where he was in charge for 14 months, in September 2011 after the club sacked his assistant Erik Larsen.
