"NPP Is Not Worth Dying For; They Abandoned Me" - Kennedy Agyapong

Outspoken Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin North, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, is hugely disappointed in his party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for abandoning him during trying times.

According to him, the party has treated him unfairly, abandoning him to fight his battle alone ever since he was charged with treason after allegedly making inflammatory statements inciting Ashantis against Gas and Ewes.

He was reacting to a statement by the Central Regional Minister, Ama Benyiwa-Doe, that Thursday’s ethnic clashes in Ekumfi Narkwa in the Mfantseman District was as a result of his (Agyapong's) infamous “war declaration” on Oman FM a couple of months ago.

Clashes ensued between Fante indigenes and the Ewe community in the area after a 60-year-old Fante man, Nana Eguase, was found beheaded along the beach.

Two Ewes were subsequently killed in reprisal attacks that left several people injured.

The former NDC National Women's Organiser had earlier stated on the Tema-based radio station that Fantes in the area were acting out the words of the Assin North MP, a claim Hon Agyapong vehemently denied.

The Kencity Media CEO recounted how he had to fight alone in court without the help or support of the party he has sacrificed for over the years.

"...even the people i call my friends in the party, people i fed and took care of has also abandoned me in difficult times," he added.

The embattled MP made it very clear that he is very peeved at the NPP for disowning him when he needed the party's support most.

He revealed that the decision by the party to disassocaite itself from his "tribal comments" was orchestrated by three leading members of the party; Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, Oboshie Sai-Coffie and "that boy" Nana Akomea.

An embittered Kennedy Agyapong believed he was sacrificed on the altar of political expediency by "the so called elitist in NPP”.

Citing the massive support Director of Communications at the Presidency, Koku Anyidoho has enjoyed within his party since his ‘reckless’ statement involving the purported dismissal of the Ashanti Regional Director of ECG over the floodlight malfunction at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium during the Ghana-Lesotho World Cup qualifier, the NPP firebrand agian reiterated that the NPP is not worth dying for.

“This is the first interview I am granting expressing the way I’m peeved; expressing the way the NPP executives, especially, Gabby Otchere Darko and Oboshie Sai treated me. And the question any citizen, ordinary citizen, who is not even educated will ask [is] ‘was Ken Agyapong speaking for himself or speaking for the party?’...me he encounters Nana Akomea, he gets really amused because “that boy (Nana Akomea) was working for me. Go and ask Nana Akomea; when he finished university, he was working for me...I am cool but I am not scared of anybody...I am only quiet because already, NPP has taken a position and I don’t know how to defend anything so I will defend my case in court,” the Assin North MP said.
