The 24-year-old attacker has been in good form for the Blues in the Caf Champions League this season, scoring 12 goals making him the tournament's leading marksman.
According to UAE daily newspaper Albayan, “Clottey is close to signing with Al-Wasl after two weeks of negotiations between the two parties. The official announcement of the deal could be in soon.”
“The contact with Clottey came at the request of French coach Bruno Metsu, who is convinced of his abilities,” the newspaper added.
The Ghana international has put in a heroic performance in the ongoing inter-club competition of the continent scoring a hat-trick in the Group B opener against Zamalek, helping his team to a difficult 3-2 win before hitting a double against TP Mazembe, but failed to score in last week Sunday's 1-1 draw against Al Ahly.
Clottey will be joining national team-mate Asamoah Gyan who plies his trade with Al Ain if the report is anything to go by.
