Monochrome magic ... Jessica Alba, Kelly Brook and Holly Willoughby choose black and white
WHAT did the stars wear to the Glamour Women of the Year Awards? The answer's in black and white!
The world's favourite women hit the red carpet in London in a monochrome mass
last night.
From sexy white trouser suits to full-length black fishtail frocks, they proved that simple can still spell S.E.X.Y.
First up was wafer-thin WAG Abbey Clancy.
Fresh from a spell in the Dubai sunshine, the mum-of-one dared to bare in a slashed-to-the-waist tuxedo and zero bra.
Also wowing in white were Kelly Brook and Amanda Holden - wearing spookily
similar lace crochet dresses by Azagury.
This look can be too saccharine in the wrong hands but both lasses hit the late-Spring note with aplomb.
Pretty, girly and gorgeous.
If ever there was an argument for beauty being in the genes it's this pair.
Both model mum Yasmin Le Bon and her star-on-the-rise daughter, Amber, showed how white can look right at any age.
Yasmin's Grecian style was ultra flattering while Amber's layered mini-dress looked fresh and funky. Well done, that family.
Alex Jones looked cool but a bit on the boring side in a one-shoulder stretch
number.
While Fearne Cotton redeemed herself for her BAFTAs frock horror with a cute textured dress and gorgeous hair and make-up. All is forgiven.
It wasn't just the women making the most of the white trend.
The fellas muscled in on the act in the form of legendary crooner, Rod Stewart - rocking a gleaming tux while his missus, Penny, smouldered in purple satin.
Prints were not a popular look on the night and here we have Exhibits A and B
as to why.
Alexandra Burke's gown failed to flatter her impressive figure while Tess Daly just looked mumsy by teaming a dated design with icky yellow accessories.
However one lass who got the dramatic print look down to a T was X Factor
judge Kelly Rowland.
Her Maria Grachvogel satin halter-dress boasted a subtle but stylish feather motif that turned heads for all the right reasons.
Another of the best dressed of the night was a Gleeful Lea Michele.
The gorgeous star, 25, looked ultra sophisticated in a one-shoulder midnight blue gown by Zac Posen.
We love her power gems and slicked-back hair too. Fierce and fabulous.
Lace was a huge trend at the London bash too. Michelle Dockery looked prim but
entirely proper in a pretty black and blue knee-length dress.
While Myleene Klass showed just how much weight she has lost in a flirty dress, worn with spiky suede heels. Very vamp.
Also vamping it up in a gothic flapper get-up was The Voice judge Jessie J.
We loved her deconstructed sequin dress and zip-up block heels. A true style original.
Holly Willoughby chose a vintage look for the magazine party too.
Teaming a flattering 1950s-style dress with a nipped-in waist and T-bar shoes played to her strengths perfectly.
The same can't be said for the usually-delicious Cat Deeley. Looking like a monochrome version of Batman's Two-Face, Cat failed to impress in a long-sleeved shift dress.
And then there was a tale of two Lilys - one a charming young ingenue in a
cute strapless gown and the other ... Lily Allen.
Lily Collins chose the perfect understated outfit to announce her arrival on the style scene - she looked somehow young and all-grown-up at the same time.
Meanwhile, Lily Allen looked ready for a wet weekend in Widnes in thick opaque tights and an ill-fitting coat.
If only she'd taken a note out of Jessica Alba's book - if you are going to
choose black, make it count.
Stunning Jess's floor-length showstopper by Alexander McQueen had pretty tulle straps and a suggestive bow-tie at the front.
Fellow actress Naomi Watts also kept the colour palette simple but made up for
it with a racy backless design with cut-away panels at the waist.
The Australian star teamed the suggestive Versace look with a just-out-of-bed ponytail and strappy heels.
Fellow Aussie siren Kylie Minogue got probably the most attention of the whole
night in this amazing golden glitter gown.
She oozed Old Hollywood glamour in the filmy creation with cute neck detailing.
Also working the metallic style was Paloma Faith in a vintage beaded gown with
tassle hem.
Mind you, no wonder writer Caitlin Moran looks outraged - Paloma's only gone and nicked her wacky, two-tone hair look.
Scaring small children left, right and centre was queen of couture Donatella
Versace.
Dona-fella looked freakily masculine in a strapless, sculpted gown that only showed off her one-way ticket to the gun show.
Not scaring kids - but still failing to live up to her fashion potential was
BGT's Alesha Dixon.
Her floaty 'mullet' dress did little to showcase her knockout figure.
And Downton star Jessica Brown Findlay should be sent below stairs for this dodgy cream number.
Both lasses could learn a thing or two from Eva Longoria.
If you have a super-sexy body you spend hours keeping trim, for goodness sake show it off!
The Desperate Housewives beauty looked ready to flirt in a zip-up orange frock by our very own Victoria Beckham.
Orange was another key colour for super-skinny Katherine Jenkins - she was
plastered in fake tan.
Her print bandeau dress by Mary Katrantzou was busy but cool - and the same goes for Jameela Jamil's psychedelic playsuit.
We do wish she'd stop accessorising like a ten-year-old though.
Also rocking a mish-mash of styles and probably looking very 'now' was Little
Mix.
We do love that they march to their own beat style-wise - but the only outfit we'd pay money for is Jade's ultra cute take on a tux.
Looking hotter than any man has a right to was male supermodel David Gandy.
Mollie King's ex looked dapper to the point of pain in a white jacket with peek-a-boo blue shirt cuffs.
Jake Shears doesn't do dapper but he still managed to get noticed in a quirky lime green outfit and yellow shoes.
Again, if we understood this look we might like it better.
Another partygoer decked in green was TV presenter Dawn Porter - seen with her
actor boyfriend, Chris O'Dowd.
We rather liked her Mad Men-style shift dress - bar the 'nipple' buttons of course.
From sexy white trouser suits to full-length black fishtail frocks, they proved that simple can still spell S.E.X.Y.
First up was wafer-thin WAG Abbey Clancy.
