Dr. Bawumia addresses nation on Google Hangouts on Air, Monday

The Vice Presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will on Monday August 27, become the first political figure in Ghana to engage the nation in an open discussion on his vision for the country using Google’s new platform, Google+ Hangouts On Air.

The unique interaction will be live on the Citi Breakfast Show on 97.3 Citi FM at 8AM and will be streaming live on its YouTube Channel: citifmvideos as well as its website: Citifmonline.com.

The former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana will be addressing a number of the issues including youth unemployment, the depreciating cedi, Information Communication Technology development, the proposed free SHS programme by his party and how the current global economic situation is affecting Ghana.

He will for the first time also shed some light on his work in Zimbabwe where he worked as the African Development Bank’s Resident Representative to Zimbabwe.

He was responsible for AfDB relations with Zimbabwe, was in charge of research-based technical advice to the Government, coordinated with the donor community and had oversight Responsibility for Administration of the Zimbabwe Multi-Donor Trust Fund.

As an ardent sports fan, Dr Bawumia will also express his views on some key developments in the area of sports in the country including the promotion of his favorite team, Real Tamale United, to the Premier League.

Several key players in various sectors of Ghana’s economy will be on the Hangout to pose questions to Dr. Bawumia. Questions can however be sent ahead of time to info@citifmonline.com.

According to an aide to Dr. Bawumia, the seasoned economist agreed to participate in this first ever initiative by Citi FM because of his belief in the power of technology and how, if harnessed properly, could be a major driving force for the development of Ghana.

The Google Hangouts on Air platform was launched in Ghana last week and Citi FM is the first station in Africa to have pioneered this innovative way of communicating with listeners and viewers.

Citi 97.3 FM, christened on Google+ as “CitiFM Fanpage”, went mainstream with its Google+ account over eight months ago and has since been interacting with a section of the over 250 million people on the platform.
