The tactician’s future at San Siro has been placed into doubt amid reports that his relationship with Vice-President Adriano Galliani has hit problems.
But speaking ahead of the game against Atalanta, the former Cagliari tactician seemed in a relatively tranquil frame of mind.
“Judgements about myself don’t scare me,” he stated. “When I got here they said I wasn’t ready, but in the last two years we’ve done better than anyone else.
“People lining up to replace me? I‘m calm, it’s normal that a lot of Coaches have the ambition to come and work here.
“I know the squad I have available to me and I know we’ll face problems along the way, but the results will speak for themselves and we’ll have to try and grow.
“Clearing things up with Galliani? To clear things up, there would need to be something to clear up and there isn’t.”
Turning to Saturday night’s encounter against the Nerazzurri, Allegri is confident that Giampaolo Pazzini will start despite a knee issue.
“I took off Pazzini in training yesterday after 20 minutes as he had a problem, but I’m 90 per cent sure he’ll play from the start. He’ll be partnered by either Bojan Krkic or Stephan El Shaarawy.
“Tomorrow will be a tough game against a team that concedes very little space. We’ll need to be patient.
“Atalanta didn’t deserve to lose against Lazio and they did well in Cagliari, they have the quality to do us damage on the counter-attack. We’ll have to play well tactically and be good in defence.”
Milan got off to a poor start to the season, but there was some evidence of a revival in the last round of Serie A.
“Football is beautiful because it’s strange. We could have drawn against both Sampdoria and Bologna, instead we lost and then we won but now we have three points.
“We have to improve, especially in attack we have to be sharper.
“The team needs to be free mentally and not nervous about the result because we have a lot of new and young players in the squad.
“We have seven games in 21 days and we’ll prepare for them one at a time. That’s the best thing to do. Now we have Atalanta and after that we go to Anderlecht.”
Allegri concluded by updating fans on the injury situation at the club.
“Alexandre Pato’s recovery is proceeding well. Robinho will be back before him and Riccardo Montolivo is almost there - we have to see if he can play against Anderlecht without running any big risks.
“Philippe Mexes is fine and if he doesn’t play tomorrow he might play in the Champions League. We have more subs on the bench this year so we’ll see tomorrow.”
