NPP communicators are the ‘babies with hard teeth’ Rawlings spoke of - David Annan

Former President Jerry Rawlings meant communicators of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) when he asked President John Mahama to lower, if not dismiss, ‘babies with hard teeth,’ from government, Mr David Annan, a member of National Democratic Congress (NDC) legal team has said.

Mr Rawlings, at the special Delegates' Congress of the ruling party few days ago, urged President John Dramani Mahama to rein in some members of government whom he (Rawlings) called ‘babies with hard teeth’ and who spew very horrible invectives at other members of the NDC they disagree with.

Some ministers as well as government appointees have since been fingered as being the target of Mr Rawlings’ parable. But David Annan vehemently disagreed when he contributed to discussions on Alhaji & Alhaji , a current affairs programme on Radio Gold, Saturday.

Mr Annan said members of the NPP should not deceive themselves into believing that the NDC founder was addressing anybody in his party because Rawlings was in fact talking to the NPP.

“…I think that (Rawlings) was referring to the “sharp tongued, vampire teeth baby communicators in the NPP,” he stated, noting that those communicators should know “the [ex] president was just as well speaking to them”.

Mr David Annan continued: “Should we throw them out with the dirty water? And I think that the answer is yes.”

He subsequently charged NPP flag-bearer, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo to ensure that those ‘babies‘ whom he (Annan) accused of denigrating the nation in the eyes of the international community are thrown out if he (Akufo-Addo) truly believes in Ghana.

“So to those babies with sharp teeth in the NPP, I am saying shut your mouths, we are tired of listening to you...”
