According to information, Alin Nkrumah, who has been in the care of his auntie, Samia Nkrumah, the chairperson for the Convention People’s Party (CPP), all this while did not have a father-son relationship with his dad, until his demise.
It is unclear what killed Alin.
Alin, 21 years, The Herald gathered was born to a Romanian mother, but enjoyed a motherly relationship with his aunt, Samia who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro in the Western Region.
His father has for some time now been on radio, complaining bitterly about how his son, Alin, has been taken away from him over the past years.
Some few months ago, he indicated on Asempa FM in Accra, that at a time, when he thought Alin was out of Ghana, he shocking learnt that he was still in the country with his auntie, Samia.
Sekou at a point, went berserk on social facebook, and accused both Gamal Nkrumah and Samia of conspiring to take his son away from him. Gamel is the first child between Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and Fathia Nkrumanh, an elder brother of Sekou.
Indeed, just last week on Agoo FM where he was a panelist in a socio-political programme, the host Nana Kwabena Bobie Ansah inquired from Dr Nkrumah the whereabout of Alin and in an angrily manner answered “I don’t know”.
On his facebook wall yesterday, the elder brother of Sekou who lives in his mother’s country Cairo, Egypt, announced the sudden death of the young man, expressing his condolences to his younger brother Sekou and for the loss.
Gamel recalled how Alin helped his auntie in her campaign to become the Member of Parliament.
“Dreadful loss… my dear nephew, Alin must be buried in his ancestral land… Jomoro… he helped his aunt Samia in her political campaign for the CPP… touring the country”
“My pain and agony has been unbearable since I learned of the sad news yesterday… please, with your permission Sekou will write an official family obituary”, Gamel, a journalist, said,
“The last years of his tragically short life in Ghana was very fruitful and full of promise… I remember him always calling me “Uncle G”… he was very intelligent and artistic and had a winning personality… I was very fond of my dear nephew”, he said.
After the post by Gamel, he pleaded with his younger brother Sekou to inform Alin’s Romanian mother. But Sekou replied, saying there was no need to do so because Alin was already dead and he was the only child.
“Alin’s mother could be devastated with the loss of her only child so just take it easy here, Sekou noted.
Gamel who has been on facebook to consol his brother and sister said “am proud to announce on behalf of the family that Alin will be buried next to his great grandfather in Jomoro” he said.
