Dr. Koma Jehu Appiah, Country Director for
Ipas Ghana, an NGO that is committed to advancing women's reproductive
rights, has advised men who are interested in oral sex to ensure their
mouth is clean lest they risk introducing infections to the vagina.
According
to Dr. Jehu Appiah, the female sex organ is cleaner than the mouth and
as such any dirty thing it comes to contact with risks infecting it.
He
stated that unlike the female sex organ, the mouth comes into contact
with all sorts of food particles and if it is not cleaned properly
especially the tongue, introducing it to the vagina could lead to
infections such as vaginal discharge.
Dr. Jehu-Appiah who has
more than 15 years of medical experience also charged women to insist on
their partners taking a shower before engaging in unprotected sex.
He
added the practice of engaging in unprotected sex with an unclean male
sex organ has led to lots of women contracting infections such as
vaginal discharge as well as Urinary Tract Infections.
