Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has intimated that he intends for Robin van Persie's future to be resolved in time for the start of the new Premier League season.

Wenger has reiterated he is keen to retain the services of star striker Van Persie, despite the Dutchman stating he will not sign a new contract with the Gunners.
Van Persie's current terms expire in the summer of 2013, and interest in his signature is high, with Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus all monitoring his situation.
It has been suggested Arsenal could be open to selling the forward should they receive an offer in excess of £20 million, but Wenger has stressed his desire to keep the skipper at Emirates Stadium.
Speaking in Malaysia at the start of the Gunners' pre-season tour, Wenger said at a press conference: "We are very, very ambitious. You know that. Not only very ambitious, but also very proud of the way we run our club.
"Van Persie is a world-class striker and I am a big supporter of him. I have supported him through his whole career. He has one year left and is in demand but our desire is to keep him.
"However, we will do what is in best interest of the club. If you have a decoder in your head you can decode that."
Wenger indicated he is keen for the situation to be resolved before Arsenal's first fixture of the Premier League campaign against Sunderland on August 18.
"The official transfer deadline is August 31 but then we can create an internal deadline," the Frenchman said.
Asked if that was before the new campaign kicks off, he replied: "Of course. I believe the transfer market should stop before the season starts anyway."
