No plan to reshuffle Cabinet -President Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has stated that he has not taken any decision to sack any minister or make a ministerial reshuffle.

The President said, he had also not received any resignation letter from the Chief of Staff, Mr John Henry Martey Newman, as being speculated by a section of the media.

The Spokesperson of President Mahama, Mr John Jinapor, made these known to the Daily Graphic in reaction to rumours that President Mahama had decided to do reshuffle his ministers.

Mr Jinapor said after the government and the whole country had finished the funeral of President John Evans Atta Mills, President Mahama’s focus now, was on how to keep the government working to grow the economy and improve the living standards of the people.

“We have just finished the funeral of the late President Mills. The President is only committed to working to serve Ghanaians and bring about development,” he said.

Therefore, Mr Jinapor said, President Mahama had urged Ministers of State not to be detracted by the rumours and speculation of any ministerial reshuffle but rather focus on the implementation of government policies, projects and programmes.

He also asked Ghanaians to go about their work and not allow themselves to be disrupted by the rumours.

On the speculation that President Mahama had decided to relocate to the Flag Staff House, Mr Jinapor said “that decision has not been considered”, and indicated that if such a decision was taken it would be made public.

He explained that the Flag Staff House was not abandoned and that the government ran business there occasionally.

Reshuffling would have really helped the president. Some greedy ministers who took advantage of the expired president's leniency and ailment to dupe the nation will have to be sacked and brought to book.
