Division in NPP over whether to go to court

Dr. Wireku Brobbery issued a statement in Accra where he expressed doubts as to whether the evidence the legal team had was enough to change the verdict of the 2012 elections in the courts.

Dr. Wireku Brobbery is of the view that there is a substantial case of “official manipulation and massaging of both the voting process and the outcome of election 2012 but it was due to the laziness of the polling agents that have resulted in the lose and woes of the party.

In his view if the party had protected the ballot boxes the results declared by the EC would have been different.

He maintained that rather than going to court, they should ''let sleeping dogs lie'' and be vigilant next time round.

However, Nana Akomea maintained that the ''mass'' rigging by the National Democratic Congress should not go uncontested as it will help strengthen the democracy of the country.

“We have a duty to expose these irregularities so they don’t happen again,” he added.

He rubbished the assertions of Dr. Wireku Brobbery in an analogy saying that merely because a security man failed in his duties to protect a house does not mean that the burglar should be rewarded and praised for his action.

He insisted the party will follow the due process of law and will present its case to the Supreme Court within the 21 days stipulated by law to bring an election petition after declaration of election result.
