"Guardiola told Rosell what he wanted if he was going to renew his contract. Among the requirements were the sale of four players: Alves, Piqué, Cesc and David Villa", said players' agent François Gallardo in statements to Intereconomía. The agent acts for John Terry amongst others.
"Pep didn't think Fábregas, Gerard and Dani were committed to the cause, whilst he wanted rid of Villa for sporting reasons", said the agent. He also added: "Guardiola felt especially let down by Cesc, as a person, because he asked for the club to sign him and when he reached out to the player, Fábregas let him down".
Rosell however refused to accept Guardiola's demands. Upon seeing the list he refused to even discuss it as a possibility. Sandro knew that the players were in effect untouchable, because the fans would never accept their sale".
