The President of Ghana, H.E.John Dramani Mahama threw his support for free education on 30th October, 2012 during the IEA's presidential debate. He said that free education is a constitutional mandate.
He however called for quality rather than free education since that the foundations should be built first before implementing free education. This was a rebuttal to the flag bearer of the NPP who attacked the NDC by saying that the priority of the NDC was on the payment of judgement debt.
He again said that his party( NDC) was committed to building more schools to reduce the number of schools under trees.
