This may not be good times for Asamoah Gyan, after his mother met her untimely death, but Life must goes on like he has said..
THE question
is as simple as the heading,"Will Asamoah Gyan lead this Black Star
team to bring back the lost glory to Mother Ghana? The man has indicated
to some journalist that , " it won't be an easy task in South African
,but he will do anything in his power to let the numerous football
fanatics and aficionado of the national team smile once again....
Gyan has been given the mandate by the Black Star gaffer James Akwasi
Appiah,to wear the captain's armband to steer the affairs of the team
on and off the pitch of play come January 2013,when the African Cup Of
Nations kicks off in South Africa..Asked why he choose Asamoah
Gyan, coach Akwasi Appiah told supersport.com that, "it was simply
because he commands a lot of respect from everyone. You cannot deny that
he has been consistent for the team and has shown a lot of leadership
material too"..Coach Akwasi Appiah further stated that he didn't
overlook seniority when he handed the Al-Ain goal poacher the armband
insisting that the decision was not taken in isolation but with the
consent of the big names that matter at the Ghana FA and some players
like John Mensah,John Painstil,Sulley Muntari and Michael Essien..
Gyan,who is capped 60 times,with 28goals under his belt,to me by far
stands out tall among other colleagues, when we all knows that John
Mensah, who used to be the captain,is an inconsistent player in the
team.unfortunately, because of his injury situations and also John
Panstil, the most capped player in the current Black Star's squad, had
also been on and off,so the only player who could fill that vacuum is
Baby Jet Asamoah Gyan..
Gyan is a player who has shown maturity beyond his years with the
team and better still, has the confidence to take on defenders and not
awed by big occasion. His unique qualities and talent have been there for
all to see and enjoy over the last years and has quickly become a cult
figure among the supporters with a series of skilful and wholehearted
performance.
But still the multi-million dollar question people have been asking
is , "Will Asamoah Gyan and his entourage defile the millstone around
the neck of the team in winning the coveted trophy or will he bring a
force to team to reckon with as he captained the team to South Africa
and button some foul lips of Ghanaians who were on fault when he missed
that two decisive penalties in the World Cup and AFCON 2012
respectively.
At this juncture,i want to reminiscent on some interesting
development in his career at the national side.Which some are
unbelievable, others are usual and yet others heartbreaking
Gyan made his debut at the tender age of 17,and scored on his debut
for Ghana in a game against Somalia on November 2003 in the
90minutes,when he came on as a substitute in a World Cup qualifier
match, making him the youngest player ever to score for Ghana. From
there,he shot to prominence in the corridors of Ghana football, when he
continued his scoring run for Ghana in the qualifiers to the 2006 World
Cup,netting 4 goals in 7 games.......
What He Will Be Remembered For.......
When scored the fastest goal of the 2006 World Cup in Germany after
70seconds,making him the first Ghanaian player to score a goal at the
World Cup,against a star studded Czech Republic side on the 17th June at
the RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne.
Gyan join Hip-Life artist Castro de Destroyer to release a hit song
under name "BABY JET".The title of the song was "African Girls and Do
the Dance"
The famous dance he demonstrated at the 2010 World Cup and at Sunderland
The Bizarre or Weird Decision....
It was on January 2008 during the African Cup Of Nations held in
Ghana, when he and his senior brother,Baffour Gyan decided to walk out
from the Black Stars camp, following series of criticism from fans that
he and his brother wre not given out their best when ever they are
invited to the national side.It was reported in the media, that both
have packed heir baggage ready to leave the team's hotel but the timely
intervention of then President of the land,J.A Kuffour to persuade them
to stay.
Again, was when the former Sunderland striker took an indefinite break
from international football after the 2012 African Cup Of Nations in
February, when he became a target fro Ghana fans after missing the
penalty contributing to the team'ssemi-final exit,He was a subject in
the country and got a massive verbal assault..
After the passing on of his mother,Gyan has decided not to take any
penalty again for Ghana due to a request from his mother, who met her
untimely death in a car accident

MY FIVE FINEST MOMENT OF ASAMOAH GYAN..............
As a country and a person,we share a great passiohn for our football
and our players.Everybody may have his or her own version of Asamoah's
finest moment when ever he donned the jersey of the Black Stars..And in
this chapter i present to you my 5 finest moment about Asamoah Gyan
.Ghana 1 Vrs England 1 ,29th March 2011,Wembley Stadium,London
G yan scored a memorable late goal to bring the
scores to a leve after England has scored early through Andy Carroll
left-footed strike. His goal came in the first minute of stoppage
time, turning Joeloen Lescott inside out and steering a left footed
strike beyond Joe Hart.He sparked celebrations inside Wembley that even
the winners of the African Champions League may fail to replicate.
.Ghana 2 Vrs Czech Republic 0 ,17th June 2006,AWD -Arena,Hanover, Germany
Gyan fired Ghana ahead after just 70 seconds on the clock, finishing
superbly to punish Tomas Ujfalusi's mistake.Ghana went on to win that
game by 2goals to nil, with Sulley Muntari sealing a late strike...
Gyan broke the deadlock in the deadlock in the 21st minute against
the run of play with a header at the near post, when he rose majestically
to meet a ball from Kwadwo Asamoah's corner to help send the Black Star
to the final for the first time since 1992..
K P Boateng put Ghana ahead in the 5th minute, but they failed to hold
up to their lead, after Jonathan Mensah had brought down Clint Dempsey
down in the penalty box, helping Donovan to smash it in off the right
corner of the posts,to bring the scores all squared. After full 90minutes
of good football, the game headed to extra time and only 3 minutes on
the clock,Gyan scored a great goal, who beats Bocanegra and DeMerit in a
race to the ball hoofed op from the middle by Dede Ayew.Gyan race
between the two stalwart defenders, and does well to stay on his feet as
Bocanegra tries to shoulder him to the ground, then glance up and blast a
left-footed shot pass Tim Howard from about 15 yards..
