Former MP for Nkoranza, Eric Amoateng has been arrested by NACOB officials immediately after returning from the US after serving 10 years in jail for illegal possession of 136 pounds of heroin estimated at about six million dollars.
The former MP touched down at the Kotoka International Airport, Accra at exactly 2 pm on Delta airline number
DL478.
He was accompanied by two officers from the US State Department who were aboard his flight to ensure his transfer to Ghanaian state officials.
After brief checks at the airport, he was whisked away for
further interrogation at the Narcotic Control Board headquarters.
Meanwhile, hundreds of supporters, mainly from Nkoranza North besieged
the airport to welcome their former MP but they were left disappointed
when police and NACOB officials whisked him away.
The disappointed supporters are accusing officials of NACOB of witch-hunting, an accusation officials of NACOB have vehemently denied.
