Ghanaian champions Asante Kotoko have confirmed signing eight new players for the upcoming season.
Five of the new signings were poached from Ghana Premier League sides
including striker Seidu Bancey (Ebusua Dwarfs), Medeama SC's centre-back
Kwabena Edusei.
The rest are Berekum Chelsea striker Ali Nurudeen and Heart of Lions duo Godfred Asante and Small Boy Coba.
The lower division players are strikers Mohammed Toure (Bazooka FC) and Musah Issa (Guan United).
Defender Nafiu Dramani joins from Cheetah FC.
The recruitment is expected to enhance Kotoko's title defence and qualify to the Group stage of the 2013 CAF Champions League.
"Our plan is to strengthen the team for next season. These signings and
a few more will help us in that direction," Kotoko chairman Dr KK
Sarpong told the Kotoko Express.
Kotoko are also interested in revamping their reserve side as a feeder for the first team in future.
"We are carefully looking at a number of youngsters from these clubs.
We intend to revamp the reserve to develop the skill and stature of
these youngsters to graduate to the senior team," Sarpong added.
